We have our in-house workshop, 3D printers, lasercutter, waterjet cutter and a range of specialised manufacturing facilities in close vicinity who can help bring the concepts into a tactile object for you to give us critical feedback on. This is the time to test and play with the ideas before moving forward into methods of manufacture and finalising the form, texture, colours and brand identity.

We have a full time waterjet cutting facility that allows us to cut almost any type of flat surface with precision, regardless of what the material, dimensions, or shape.  It is precise which allows complex and sophisticated cuts to be made.

Waterjet cutting is e
nvironmentally friendly as no dangerous emissions or waste is produced by the jets,  and no dangerous liquids or gasses are used which makes it safe to use. Very little water is used and it can be recycled.  A non-toxic natural garnet abrasive is combined with the water to cut through the material. ​

50% of our projects are designing and developing anatomically correct animal simulators for veterinarian training purposes.  Due to this, we created a company specially focussed on this, called Holsim. 

The Holsim name is a combination of the two words Holistic and Simulation. These two words sum up the basis of the vision for Holsim.


Animal care is affirmed as the priority of Holsim. This is achieved by increasing the skills of practitioners and improving animal welfare by focusing on simulation mannequins as a means of knowledge and skill acquisition.


Holsim design, manufacture and supply high fidelity veterinarian training mannequins to universities and training organisations all around the world. Holsim works closely with local universities to create products that will teach students new skills and that mimic real life situations in a safe learning environment.


Holsim is based in the Waikato region of New Zealand, a region that has a very strong agricultural and technology industries.

Born out of a design project with the Department of Conservation NZ, Biosecurity Products is a design driven approach to addressing biosecurity issues within New Zealand and beyond.  We are passionate about delivering the best products to address your biosecurity needs.  All Biosecurity Products are designed by MWDesign in the heart of the Waikato and delivered to you wherever you are in the world.

Our stations have been designed with two things in mind - the trees and the people. Our priority is to use design to combat the spread of dieback disease by people . We have created a station that allows people to clean their shoes efficiently and effectively by providing sheltered stations at the entrance of NZ forest tracks. 


Hikers are able to remove any dirt on their boots on the brushes mounted to the floor grating, before stepping onto the foot treadle, which triggers it to spray a fine mist of diluted Sterigene (a chemical which disinfects and kills bacterial organisms) onto the soles of their shoes. If their boots are caked in mud, hikers can sit on the provided seats and use a hand brush and drench gun to remove any excess dirt before disinfecting with Sterigene.  

DOC’s public usage study shows a massive 98% compliance by visitors both on the way in and out of the Tane Mahuta trail since installing the station as opposed to a previous 30%.
