COMPONENT DESIGN FOR ASSEMBLY
After the final concept presentation, MWDesign will focus on the approved product concept. This will be done primarily through 3D CAD modelling. We will further development the CAD models into precise components incorporating all features from the final concept design. The objective is to develop the design to allow us to create a prototype for testing, before investing in tooling.
Focusing on individual part components, MWDesign will refine the components and design out the cost to enable us to maintain quality while meeting our budget cost. We will begin engineering the parts for the product, focusing on functional aspects of the design.

SaveBOARD - Tetra Pak

Tetra PaK saveBOARD collection bin
Saveboard is a revolutionary product that is made predominantly from recycled Tetra pac cartons [and a few other soft plastics]. By partnering with Tetra Pac, MWDesign was able to create a series of collection bins that are designed to collect used tetrapack cartons from cafes around New Zealand and Australia.
These collection bins are cut from Saveboard sheets using our water jet cutter, which is an environmentally friendly cutting technology. Not only that, but any scrap and off cuts are sent back to Saveboard to be used in the production of more Saveboard! This helps to reduce waste and creates a closed-loop system that is both sustainable and eco-friendly.
